We at Said Like Reeds or Things make every effort to remain within the bounds of the socially acceptable and productive (yes, we too see warning flags on both counts, yet we sincerely prefer to play nice). We also try to keep things fresh, so we occasionally introduce new flavours. With this in mind, stay tuned for a possible series of speculative and exploratory posts under the title "What Would the Community Think? (Kill Yr Ideals)."

In the meantime, a blast-from-the-past treat:

P.S. Kill yr ideas, too. You likely already have too many.

You sound as sure of yourself as a .... an oxymoron the declarative "kill all ideas' retaining its own. The Idea. Kill Yr Ideas, Too." Self-destructive ? white, middle-class identities retain their social place while proporting to explode. Thus, "kill your idea(l)s" logically inconsistent. It's old, it's boring, it's tripe.

Arif: I recognize some of your rhetoric.

Well, yes, slightly hamfisted maybe, but roughly thus:

Sonic Youth's "Kill Yr Idols" from, perhaps, "if you see the Buddha, kill him" becomes "Kill Yr Ideals" and "Kill Yr Ideas."

"If you see the Buddha..." meaning, among other things, do not become attached even to Buddhism. Same for ideals and ideas?

Logically inconsistant? Maybe, but self-consciously so.

Old? Boring?

Maybe, but still worth going over. I didn't claim anything was new.
