File under more of the same

Here's what the Bush administration's nominee for ambassador to the U.N. said recently:
The number three at the State Department, John Bolton, even said: "There is no such thing as the United Nations. There is only the international community, which can only be led by the only remaining superpower, which is the United States."

Well, as we losers down here sometimes say (or should): We get what they vote for.

Yeah, I think we up here still know that Bush et al don't represent the will of the people. I'm hoping that more will have clued in by 2006, so that they can put some sort of brake on this. Is the Social Security scam waking people up? Or am I thinking wishfully?

It's amazing how these brazen appointments are feeling less and less shocking though.

Wishful thinking, Mark. As Clinton said--speaking of political expediency--"It's better to be strong and wrong than weak and right." (Or something to that effect.)
